New York is Nowhere
Photographed during the height of the pandemic, New York is Nowhere features my own photography from a day crisscrossing an empty Manhattan. The muted black and white photography recalls newspaper photographs, while the occasional overprint type creates an analog feel. Title design was selected to evoke several major New York publications, with customized swooping curves, and the text throughout is stacked like New York buildings.
And why blue? Because nothing is more hopeful than a peek of blue sky.

A note on the text
The text follows the journey driving throughout the city during the photoshoot. It also hits on major New York institutions and how they were impacted, from the major (Times Square, the Theater District) to the minor (scattered seating, playgrounds).
